Dozens of dogs and their owners turned out Saturday for a walk on Windmill Pointe Drive to help raise money for the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society.

The furry canines of the Grosse Pointes and area turned out Saturday to help raise money for the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society--many of the dogs were adopted through the nonprofit organization that holds adoptions twice a month.

Attendees were encouraged to raise funds from friends and family before arriving at the event and those who raised more than $100 received a Paws In the Park tee-shirt.

The money help support the organization by helping to pay for veterinary care and other services for the animals, according to a Paws In the Park press release.

The walk began in 1997 and has become an annual event. This year's walk began inside Windmill Pointe Park, spanned the same named roadway and back to the park. Two doggie water stations were set up on the median separating the boulevard.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes turned out.
