Annual Village Sidewalk Sales to Take Over Kercheval This Weekend

If you haven't checked out the Village lately, head down this weekend to see what's new.

If you haven't been to the Grosse Pointe Village in quite a while, you're in for a treat.

On Friday and Saturday, the 36th Annual Sidewalk Sales will transform Kercheval Avenue as crowds flood the street. Organizers are saying this year will be bigger and better than ever.

"This [event] is about coming to the Village and seeing what the shops and restaurants really have to offer," said Melissa Bunker, Event Coordinator. "If you haven't been here in a while, you may have never been into some of these stores."

New spots in the Village include the independent She Boutique which opened its doors May 9, the upscale European salon Chez Lou Lou as well as Great Clips.

And of course, sidewalk sales are all about deals - including steep discounts, with some stores offering an 80 percent savings off regular prices on end-of-season merchandise. Items for special purchase will be available exclusively during the event. Restaurants and salons will offer specials throughout the two-day sale.

Bunker said that not only do most store owners look forward to this event year-round, as they experience a record-breaking number of customers, but so does the community, as it has become a tradition in the Grosse Pointe area.

"People in this town know that it's always this weekend, they look forward to it, and if they see a great deal, it's when you have to buy it," adds Bunker.

The 36th Annual Grosse Pointe Village Sidewalk Sales will take place July 26 from 3 p.m. - 9 p.m. and July 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kercheval will be open to foot traffic only during sale hours with parking available at nearby public parking lots and The Village parking structure. The municipal lot to the north Kercheval between Notre Dame to St. Clair behind Caribou Coffee and Starbucks is closed for construction through Labor Day.  For more information on this and other upcoming events, visit the Village Facebook page.
