This Week in Grosse Pointe: Oct. 15

Grosse Pointe Farms to take action on council vacancy during regular meeting Monday.

 

Here are the highlights of what's happening this week in the Grosse Pointes:

1.  Grosse Pointe Farms City Council Meeting, Oct. 15 at 7:00 p.m.

Council will make a decision to appoint a new council member to the vacant seat vacant seat now open due to the passing of Mayor Pro Tem Joseph Leonard  or opt for a Special Election in February.

2.  Grosse Pointe City Council Meeting, Oct. 15 at 7:00 p.m.

Under new business, the council will be taking action on an amendment to the city's retiree medical plan and adopting a Title VI Non-Discrimination Plan.

3.  Grosse Pointe Woods City Council Meeting, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

The council will present the 2012 Public Safety awards to several members of the department.

City Attorney will present a lawsuit brought by a resident against Wayne County Elections Clerk and the City's Clerk regarding the August primary election ballot.

4..  Special Meeting of the GPPS School Board, Oct. 15, 8:00 p.m.

The Grosse Pointe school board will hold a special meeting Monday at 8:00 p.m. to discuss passage of a proposed mandatory residency affidavit.

 

5.  Grosse Pointe Shores City Council Meeting, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Council will review and take action on the city auditors service contract with Abraham & Gaffney.

6.  Grosse Pointe North High School's Homecoming Parade and Football Game

The parade will start at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 at Monteith Elementary and culminate at the high school.  The football game against St. Clair will kick-off at 7:00 p.m.!  Go Norsemen!

 

7.  Grosse Pointe Woods Hazardous Waste Drop Off

Woods residents can see a full list of items that will be collected at DPW on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. here.
