DIA Offers Half-Price 'Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus' Tickets

How often can you enjoy something half-off at an art museum? That said, the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) has a deal going Dec. 11, part of its Ford Free Sundays.

See "Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus," its latest exhibit, at half-price — $8 for adults and $4 for children 6-17. (For Ford Free Sundays regular admission is waived and exhibit prices are slashed; the next one is Jan. 8, 2012.)

The exhibit brings together many of Rembrandt's finest paintings, prints and drawings that portray the life of Jesus and events in the Bible. The show includes more than 50 pieces of art created by Rembrandt and his students, and reveals how the Dutch master broke from traditional 17th-century representations of Jesus.

The DIA is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today. Tickets are timed and include a multimedia tour. Advance purchase is highly recommended. Buy them at the DIA Box Office, www.dia.org, or by calling 866-342-8497. A $3.50 handling charge applies to all non-DIA member tickets, except for those sold at the DIA Box Office.

If you can't see the show Dec. 11 or would rather go another day, the exhibit runs through Feb. 12, 2012. For DIA hours and admission prices, visit www.dia.org.
