See Rembrandt’s ‘Faces of Jesus’ at the DIA
Artists have painted Jesus in many ways over the centuries, though no one really knows what he looked like. But the attempts to visualize the man in painting, drawing and sculpture have resulted in some classic works of art, including what makes up the Detroit Institute of Arts' (DIA) latest special exhibit, “Rembrandt and the Faces of Jesus."
This collection brings together for the first time many of Dutch master Rembrandt Van Rijn’s finest paintings, prints, and drawings, where the artist has given his interpretation of Jesus and events described in the Bible.
You'll have a chance to view this outstanding collection on Thursday, Feb. 9, via a luxury motor coach trip to the DIA. The bus leaves the Grosse Pointe Woods Community Center at 11 a.m. and returns at 5 p.m. The trip includes transportation, entrance to the exhibit, and $10 in DIA Dollars to be spent on lunch or in the museum gift shop.
