Grosse Pointe Theatre Opens 'The Heiress' Sunday, March 10

The Grosse Pointe Theatre's most recent show tells the tale of a young introverted girl being pursued by a man her wealthy father is suspicious of requiring her to make a decision about who to believe.

A cast and crew chalked full of Grosse Pointers will open Grosse Pointe Theatre's most recent performance, The Heiress, Sunday March 10 with a matinee show at the War Memorial.

The Heiress is the tale of young, introverted woman living in New York City in the 1850s who is being pursued by a man her father believes is only after her inheritance. Her father misses her late mother and isn't particularly loving to her often noting her faults.

When the suitor comes into their lives, her father is suspicious, which forces her to decide who is telling the truth, according to a press released from the Theatre. The Heiress is adapted from the 1880 Henry James me

The show just closed on Broadway in mid-Feburary and is already being performed by Grosse Pointe Theatre.

  • Catherine, the daughter of the wealthy man is played by Rachel Settlage of Grosse Pointe Woods
  • Ron Otulakowski, of Eastpointe, as Dr. Sloper
  • Ron Bernas, of Grosse Poine Woods, as the suitor

The cast also includes Grosse Pointe Woods residents Terry Turpin-Amato and Beth Teagan; Hildy Corbett of Ferndale, Elizabeth Perkin-Moen of Harper Woods, Emily Thomson of Garden City.

Opening at 2 p.m. Sunday March 10 at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, the show will continue through March 21 and 23.

Shows are offered Thursday, Friday and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
