Michigan's Teacher of the Year shares tips for a successful school year with The Detroit Free Press.

Grosse Pointe North teacher Gary Abud, the Michigan Teacher of the Year, shared five tips with the Detroit Free Press for a successful school year.

Here are the tips Abud shared for parents and students from the story:

  • Stop and say hi to teachers to build a relationship that will last through the school year,
  • Be honest about expectations for the coming year,
  • Identify study partners who will help your children outside of the classroom,
  • Organize using folders, files and apps,
  • Designate a routine.
