National Weather Service Issues Tornado Watch

Wayne County is one of 13 in southeast Michigan for which the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch, which is in effect until 3 a.m.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch through 3 a.m. Tuesday for Wayne County and 12 other counties in southeast Michigan. 

Earlier in the day the weather service issued a hazardous weather outlook, warning of strong thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour. If the thunderstorms materialize, there is a liklihood for hail up to one inch in a diameter between 7 p.m. to midnight.

The storm is expected to move in a northeast direction at approximately 45 miles per hour.

Tuesday's forecast is similar to Mondays with a high temperature of 61 and breezy. Winds will be between 9 to 20 miles per hour and gusts up to 26 miles per hour.

Residents are advised to use caution tonight and into early Tuesday.
