South Goes Pink for Friday's Game

Friday is the "Pink Out" game at Grosse Pointe South for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Grosse Pointe South's traditional colors of gold and blue will be modified a bit for Friday's football game.

The football team is hosting its annual "Pink Out" game at 7 p.m. Friday for Breast Cancer Awareness. The team will be wearing pink socks and wristbands, and the coaches will have pink hats.

During the school day Friday, t-shirts and pink ribbon footballs are being sold during the day, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society, according to the school website

The effort is part of a larger campaign. Grosse Pointe South Football team is supporting the American Cancer Society through the National Football League’s (NFL) A Crucial Catch campaign – a program that emphasizes the importance of annual mammograms, raising funds, and awareness about what everyone can do to unite in the fight to end breast cancer, according to an email.
