Boutique Owner Buys Spa in Grosse Pointe Woods

Local business owner Rose Marchese and her husband have taken over a local spa. In addition to making some updates, Marchese is trying to partner with the medical field related to massage therapy for patients and whole body care.

Rose Marchese took over ownership of a spa on Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe Woods formerly known as the Edwin Paul Spa in January. Marchese is also the owner of Hannah Bear Boutique and La Jolie Rose.

The spa is seperate from Edwin Paul Salon at 20327 Mack Ave., which is owned by Edward Framalino, president Edwin Paul Inc. Services and management at the salon remain the same. The spa is no longer named Edwin Paul Spa due it being trademarked, attorney Lisa Pinkos Howle said.

After making a variety of updates to the spa located at 21023 Mack Ave., including hardware, the building and the staff, Marchese and her husband, Robert Marchese, are beginning to reach out to offer services within the community.

Additionally, she has partnered with Janssen, which has created a special skin care line for women with breast cancer that will be available for purchase as the salon.

In addition to the salon services, which range from manicures and pedicures, makeup and massage therapy, Marchese will be adding some retail products related to the spa, she said. Among those items are activewear and jewelry, she said.

Marchese has already attended spa tradeshows, she said.

One new service the spa will offer is hospital appointments, Marchese said, explaining patients may call if they wish to have a manicure, pedicure, facial or massage while hospitalized.

Marchese will celebrate five years in business as the owner of both Hannah Bear Boutique and La Jolie Rose in September. Both of those businesses are on Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe Woods as well.

She recently put both of her boutiques online for those wishing to shop for their home, she said.
