Trisha Stander and two other Grosse Pointe residents opened the store in May.
Stander recently submitted information about the business through the Patch Small Business Spotlight.
Here are her answers.
What does your business offer?
We feature a full array of dog and cat products. We carry two lines of organic dog and cat food that is available for free delivery to the Grosse Pointes. Our products include: dog and cat beds, unique bowls and food storage options, toys, collars, leashes, harnesses, treats made only in the USA, and pet products representing our local sports teams (MSU, U of M, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and Red Wings). We also carry products from local artists. The store also carries products for pet owners including tote bags, candles and frames.
What's your most popular product or service?
Dog and Cat treats, toys and collars!
What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?
Great customer service and products made only in the USA. We want to be known for carrying products that are practical, high quality and containing organic ingredients.
When was the business founded?
How did your business come to be?
Our business is located in the Eastern Market District of Detroit. We are three female Grosse Pointe residents who opened an urban pet supply store on May 4, 2013. Our company was founded in May of 2012 and it took us nearly a year to get off the ground.
Why did you choose the area you did?
We chose this location after a lot of research. The look and feel of this store needed a very "urban" setting. The building we are located in was vacant for nearly 10 years. It was previously a sausage company. We have utilized many of the original industrial fixtures including brick walls and a concrete floor. Most of our product merchandising has been done using restored items and antiques.
