Red Crown Has New Owner, Promotes New Menu

The popular Red Crown restaurant in Grosse Pointe Park has new owners, and a new menu.

The Red Crown restaurant on Kercheval in Grosse Pointe Park has a new owner and menu according to an article in the Detroit Free Press

The restaurant, which is located in a former gas station, was opened by Mindy Lopus in March. She sold her interest in the business "over differences in how to run the businesses" to the Cotton Family which is developing an entertainment district in the area, according to a story in the Detroit News

Following the sale, Robert Nahra has taken over as managing partner of the restaurant, according to the Detroit Free Press.

According to the story Nahra, who is the chef-owner of the Lakeland Banquet and Event Center in St. Clair Shores, has taken the menu from one which featured Southern touches to one that has American comfort food and focuses on "traditional good cooking."

The menu features a variety of items from lake perch fish n' chips to a wood-grilled ribeye and wild mushroom ravioli. Desserts are made in the Bona Fide Bakery, which is located down the street from the restaurant, the story stated.

A brunch was also added Dec. 1, and includes eggs benedict with pulled pork on a homemade biscuit topped with hollandaise, chicken and waffles and bananas foster French toast.
