Ribbon Cutting: Bow Wow Bake Shoppe Grand Opening

The new doggie bakery on Mack Avenue officially celebrated its opening Friday evening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce officials attended along with the owner's friends, family and regular customers

More than 20 people attended a on Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe Woods.  

Grosse Pointe's newest doggie shop specializing in organic bakery treats opened in early June with the plan to have a delayed celebration.

Owner Lisa Bardy already has some regular customers--some who attended Friday's ribbon cutting ceremony. In addition to friends and family, five dogs accompanied their owners to the celebration.

Mayor Robert Novitke and Woods City Administrator Al Fincham also attended, providing Bardy with a city sign. Executive Director Jennifer Boettcher also attended, bringing the ribbon and oversized scissors.  

Bardy bakes all of her dog treats from scratch on-site. All of her recipes are licensed and approved through the Michigan Department of Agriculture. She creates one new recipe at a time, tests it out on her own pooches before sending it in for approval.

The Harper Woods resident loves dogs and has been baking her own homemade treats for years. She created an online business for her treats but quickly realized her dream was truly to have a storefront where she could meet and interact with the customers--the four-legged furry ones walking their owners.
