Shoe Store Coming to Hill Later This Year

Construction on a store front on the Hill is underway for a future shoe store slated to open later this year. The project has received approval from Grosse Pointe Farms officials.

The future store will feature shoes and accessories and will be in a former portion of the on the Hill.

The development is being pursued by Gretchen Valade, who also opened and in the same business district in .

The city council approved the site plan request and a building permit has been issued to Tom Robinson, owner of Blackstar Inc., who will be changing the facade of the storefront.

The store will have boxed planters lining the front window as well as some changes to the top portion previously covered by an awning. 

The columns outlining the ends of the storefront will be replaced as well, using a material that will be free from rotting, according to a site plan request by Robinson on behalf of Valade.

Additionally, the inside of the store will also undergo some significant changes to create display cabinets for the product.

Robinson told Patch Valade has not yet determined a name but is hoping to open by Oct. 1.
