Tom's Oyster Bar Has Serving up Seafood for 30 Years

First restaurant opened in Grosse Pointe Park, now operating in Royal Oak.

The first "Tom's Oyster Bar" in 1985 in Grosse Pointe Park and another was eventually opened in Royal Oak.

Tom's Oyster Bar General Manager Justin Pries recently submitted information about the business through the Small Business Spotlight.

What does your business offer? 

Tom's Oyster Bar offers the freshest seafood, chalkboard specials, and six different varieties of fresh shucked oysters.

What's your most popular product or service? 

People love our rotating craft beer menu and our Baja fish tacos are out of this world!

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?

Our house flamed Spanish Coffee is believed by MANY to be the best in the Metro area.

How did your business come to be? 

Tom Brandel Opened the first "Tom's Oyster Bar" in 1985 in Grosse Pointe Park and was the first to develop an East Coast style restaurant in the area. The original location was so successful that he always wanted to expand to the Royal Oak area. And the rest is history!

Why did you choose the area you did?

Royal Oak was a growing town that was a destination spot for many people in the Metro area. At the time Royal Oak was starting to have many unique restaurants and Tom's filled a void.
