It's Almost That Time Again! Grosse Pointe Park To Host 'After 6 on Kercheval' Event Saturday

The community gathering will take place in Grosse Pointe Park this Saturday evening.

Picture this: It's Saturday night. It's the summertime. It's after 6 p.m.

Where will you be at?

How about heading down to Kercheval Street in Grosse Pointe Park and having some fun?

July 13 marks the next 'After 6 on Kercheval' market event, a time where residents and businesses can join together for community festivities in the evening... well, of course, after 6 p.m

Previous 'After 6' events have attracted hundreds of attendees, and the one being held this Saturday is predicted to do the same. This will be the second of three get-togethers happening this summer.

Traffic will be closed on Kercheval from 4 p.m. until midnight. During this time, pedestrians will have the chance to chow down on cuisine from various local eateries, check out vendors selling everything from jewelry to gardening supplies, and much more.

All food tents will be set up on Kercheval from Lakepointe to Nottingham, and all merchandise tents will be set up from Lakepointe to Maryland.

Live musical entertainment will be provided by the Sean Z Band at the intersection of Lakepointe and Kercheval. And when the sun goes down, a giant movie screen will be playing sports bloopers and clips from popular sports movies.

"The city has been working hard to restore the business district on Kercheval," Market Manager Jennifer Meldrum said. "Hosting an event such as the 'After 6' promotes a safe, fun, affordable, lighthearted evening for the entire community to enjoy."

Meldrum also notes that the West Park Farmers Market will still be held that morning as well during regular hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

So come one, come all down to Kercheval Saturday night and make sure to bring your appetite with you!

The final 'After 6 on Kercheval' event this summer will be held Aug. 8.
