Grosse Pointe Woman Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash

The Sunday evening crash took place in St. Clair County's Ira Township.

An 82-year-old Grosse Pointe Woods woman was killed Sunday in a three-car crash in Ira Township, police said Monday morning.

Angela Bournias was a passenger in a 2008 Cadillac. The 79-year-old driver of the Cadillac headed northwest on M-29 near Perch around 5:40 p.m., turning left into the path of a Jeep. The 23-year-old Clay Township man driving the Jeep was unable to stop in time to prevent the collision, according to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon.

A third vehicle, driven by a 19 year old from Clay Township, was struck while it was sitting in the driveway of the Bouvier Bay Marina before the Cadillac and Jeep stopped, Donnellon stated.

Bournias was taken to MacLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Cadillac was also taken there for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The other motorists declined medical treatment at the scene.

Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, police said.
