Happening This Weekend: Comedy, Drama and Causes

Plan your weekend around these close-to-home happenings, from a fall festival to a night of laughter.


Where/When: , 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29.
Why Go: If you're not adverse to verse and are in fact quite fond of it, come enjoy a night of poetry as the Art Center's Poet Follies series kicks up. Tonight, acclaimed Chilean poet and writer Raul Zurita will share readings from his works. Sangria and appetizers will be served as well.
Pricing: Free and open to the public. 


Where/When: , 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29; 8 p.m. Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
Why Go: The Grosse Pointe North High School Drama Club will perform a comic-mystery-whodunit A Little Murder Never Hurt Anyone, the proceeds of which benefit the Performing Arts program at the school. 
Pricing: $10 adults, $8 students. Tickets available at Wild Birds Unlimited. 


Where/When: , 8 p.m. Sept. 29-Oct. 1 and 2 p.m. Oct. 2.
Why Go: It's the final weekend for the Grosse Pointe Theatre's production of the classic show The Music Man. Catch it before it's gone.

Why Go: Our Lady Star of the Sea holds its fall festival today. Enjoy carnival games, an obstacle course, bungee run, music, mum sale, pumpkins, raffles, food, a bake sale and more.

Why Go: The Grosse Pointe Crisis Club holds a comedy night fundraiser with Michigan native Steve Bills headlining and Tom Massey opening the show. The evening includes appetizers, drinks, dinner and the comedy show.
