This Week in Grosse Pointe: March 11

The Grosse Pointe Farms city council will meet; Grosse Pointe Public school teachers will participate in a question and answer session on their proposed contract, which is drawing criticism; and the All-Pointes Daddy-Daughter Dance are this week.

Among the many events scheduled this week in the Grosse Pointes, here are a few of the highlights:

1. The Grosse Pointe Farms city council will meet Monday beginning at 7 p.m. According to the agenda, the council will discuss the following:

  • Public Safety awards
  • reinstatement of retirement ordinances
  • DTE lighting project
  • a representative to the library board
  • swearing in new councilman Joe Ricci
  • purchase of a refuse vehicle

2. Grosse Pointe Public School teachers will participate in a question and answer session Monday beginning at 4 p.m. in the cafeteria of North High School to discuss the proposed contract. They will vote on it March 18 and if it is approved, it will take effect March 25. The contract is drawing heavy criticism from many teachers.

3. The All-Pointes Daddy-Daughter Dance is Saturday at Grosse Pointe South High School, which a joint effort by each of the Parks and Recreation Departments of the Grosse Pointes. It begins at 7 p.m. and pre-registration is required with the appropriate city. It will include a flower for each daughter, light refreshments and a photo for each Daddy-Daughter set.
