Wind Advisory Issued for Wayne County

Winds could reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour starting at midnight and going until 8 p.m. Sunday.

A wind advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for most of Michigan, including Wayne County. The advisory is in effect from midnight Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday.

West winds could move from 20-30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 45 miles per hour possible.

The heavy winds are caused by a low-pressure area passing through northern Michigan and into Ontario Saturday night and Sunday. This will push a cold front through the area, allowing stronger winds to hit the area.

Residents are urged to use caution while driving, especially those with high-profile vehicles. North and south oriented roads will be most heavily affected. Also, residents should secure loose objects such as trash cans and lightweight patio furniture.
