Introduction to the World of Tea

Like wine, tea can be a sophisticated drinking experience and can vary by terroir, by production method, and other similarities. Come explore the world of specialty tea, a discussion of the history of tea, an introduction to tea production, the stages of processing, and a tasting of the five major types of tea. Tea is the world’s second most popular beverage, next to water, and is growing in popularity and sophistication in the U.S. Tea houses are sprouting in the area and even chains like Starbucks have added loose-leaf teas to their menus. This will be the beginning of a new appreciation for what has been called “the world’s most affordable luxury.”
