Call your
neighbors, family and friends because it is time for the 20th annual
premiere lifestyle and health expo for active adults. The 2013 Senior Expo is
coming to the Assumption Cultural Center located in the communities of St.
Clair Shores and Grosse Pointe Woods. The Expo provides area adults with an abundance
of informative exhibits, educational seminars, valuable resources, luncheon and
entertainment.

Each year Senior Expo hosts over
1,500 seniors and their families.  For 20 years, this eastside
community-based committee has dedicated itself to offering a day of
health, wellness, recreation and community resource information to help design
a happy, healthy and secure lifestyle. Visitors will enjoy over 50 exhibits
about healthcare, retail products, managed care, workshops, Ask the Experts, on site health screenings, community resource center and activities
and much more. 



A
complimentary luncheon will be provided by ShorePointe Nursing Center and
Marchiori Catering and Gentlemen of Swing and Hosea Taylor, “Mr. Music “ will entertain.
Screenings go beyond normal blood pressure check and include: Carotid Artery Doppler
Screening, Hand Massage, Knee Pain / Osteoarthritis, Pulmonary Lung Function
Evaluation, Mini Chair Massage, Spine Evaluation, Body Mass Index (BMI)/ Height
& Weight, Balance / Fall Risk Assessment, Knowing Medications, Walker/Cane Tip Evaluation, Hearing Screenings, and more.

the Experts will include Ask the Pharmacist, Bonnie Sysling-Salvador, RPH, "Benefits of Vitamin D" (St.
John-Providence Health System), Ask thePhysician, Dr. Paula Kim, MD, "Successful

The Resource Guide, a
valuable book for the older adult of available services throughout the
Metro-area, is distributed at Expo and remains as reference all year through.
The Guide is developed by the Senior Expo Committee and is made available at
hospitals, city offices and committee facilities.



 



WDIV –TV’s Meteorologist, Brandon Roux, is this year’s
keynote speaker.
Before coming to Detroit and joining Local 4 News, Brandon was a
Broadcast Meteorologist at WBNS-TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbus, Ohio. Other
stops over his career were at WFTC-TV in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, KTNV-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada and KIVI-TVin Boise, Idaho. Brandon
will share experiences from his career and his active
role with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Southfield,
Michigan and the American Diabetes Association of Michigan. He is a passionate
about finding a cure and being one of the proud faces of the disease in
Detroit.
