Police officers from the Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods teamed up with special needs children their communities for a day shopping, food and a visit with Santa Claus.

Members of Grosse Pointe FOP Lodge 102, along with other neighboring departments provided a day of Christmas cheer for 50 special needs and disadvantaged children from the Pointes and Harper Woods.

The "Shop With a Cop" program started three years ago by Veronica Cashion, a Grosse Pointe Farms Public Safety officer. The event started with 19 children shopping at Target, and has now grown to 50 with a lunch that was catered by Detroit BBQ.
