Foundation to Offer Scholarships to Young Sailors

The Grosse Pointe Youth Nautical Education Foundation will award scholarships to high school seniors and college students.

The Grosse Pointe Youth Nautical Education Foundation announced that it will award scholarships to high school seniors and college students who have participated in junior sailing programs in the area.

The GPYNEF will offer five $1,000 scholarships and hopes to award them in May, according to a press release from the organization.

Applications for the scholarship will be available by March 15 on the GPYNEF’s website.

In addition, the GPYNEF has presented grants to both Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South to support the schools’ varsity sailing programs.

The Grosse Pointe Yourth Nautical Education Foundation was established to “promote national and international amateur sailing, maritime education and competition, and water safety,” according to the organization's website. It is a Grosse Pointe Yacht Club Foundation.
