Chess Champion

Russian world chess champion Garry Kasparov did recent interviews on television and the March issue of the Smithsonian magazine. In his TV interview he advised not to use sanctions against Russia that would only hurt the people. Instead, he suggested freezing the assets of Russia's 140 corrupt Oligarchs. Once this monied element felt the pinch they would remove Putin from power. In the Smithsonian interview, he called Putin "pure evil'. Other key points made by Kasparov- He was critical of George W H Bush for failing to understand the changed  geo-political dynamics in the world, while still operating under an outdated view of the world. As with everything in the world, chess included, life is an endless process of learning. No such thing as the status quo. He also emphasized, 'The future is very much a combination of human intuition and advanced computation.' A key how to accomplish the integration. Even a small infusion of human intuition and the ability to evaluate facts could dramatically enhance the power of the machines we use. A practice that seems to a part of current market strategies, and those milli-second transactions on the stock-market. Kasparov is critical of the education system. He supports that chess should be taught to children because it helps to learn about legal frameworks, to understand logic and patterns, to see the big picture, to structure minds. The man is brilliant, and his thoughts are rich with common sense.  P3
