GP Woods' mayor, council hopefuls must file by Aug. 13!
By Pete Waldmeir
GROSSE POINTE WOODS - Time's running short for residents seeking to replace Mayor Robert Novitke and three of the six city council members in the upcoming Nov. 3 General Election.
Challengers have less than three weeks left to pull and file nominating petitions bearing 200 to 250 signatures of residents who are registered voters.
Filing deadline is Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m.
It's really not difficult, but you have to act fast.
Blank petitions and other important information are available from the Woods' clerk's office at the city hall. The phone is 313-343-2440. All four elected positions are for four-year terms. The Mayor Novitke is paid $6,000 and council members $3,750 annually.
The present incumbent office holders whose seats are up for grabs in November are Novitke and Council Members Vickie Granger, Kevin Ketels and Todd McConaghy.
Terms of Council Members Art Bryant, Richard Shetler, Jr. and Michael Koester expire in 2015.
