Body Found in Landfill Identified as Grosse Pointe Park Man

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating the cause of death of a Grosse Pointe Park man found in a landfill this week in Riverview.

A body found this week in a landfill in Riverview--a suburb south of downtown Detroit--has been identified as that of a 29-year-old Grosse Pointe Park man, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating the death and trying to determine the cause of death.

According to CBS Detroit, the body was found in an area of the landfill that is used for home demolition waste. It comes from a variety of places, including Canada.

When the body was discovered by an excavator driver, it was unclear whether the person was male or female and it is the first time a body has been found in the landfill, according to a report in the Free Press.
