Chase Ends in Arrests in Grosse Pointe Shores

Grosse Pointe Shores police assisted Macomb County law enforcement in arresting three people accused of robbing a gas station in Eastpointe.

Grosse Pointe Shores police assisted Macomb County law enforcement personnel in arresting three people at the intersection of Vernier and Lake Shore roads following a chase that started in Eastpointe.

According to an email from Grosse Pointe Shores Director of Public Safety John J. Schulte, police from Eastpointe pursued three people accused of robbing a Sunoco gas station on 25000 Gratiot Ave.

When the suspects’ vehicle traveled eastbound on Vernier Road toward the Shores, Grosse Pointe Shores police officers deployed spike strips across the road.

The spikes deflated the front tires of the suspects’ vehicles, and the car came to rest at the intersection of Vernier and Lake Shore.

The driver fled from the car, but police apprehended him as he tried to climb the fence to the Grosse Pointe Shores Park. Police also arrested the two other people in the car.

Police found a semi-automatic pistol and money in the car, according to Schulte.
