City Officers Recognized for Work in 2011
Five City of Grosse Pointe public safety officers received department awards for their work in various cases in 2011.
Public Safety Director Stephen Poloni recognized five officers this week for their work in 2011 as part of the department's annual awards. as well.
Lt. Edward Tujaka received a department citation for his work on . Tujuka actually went into the hole where the leak led to the death of a DTE employee, Poloni said.
The following officers received a unit citation for their work on a burglary that led to arrests a short time later.

Poloni said the case was handled well from the initial response through the investigation stages.
The responding officers used the department's canine officer to track a scent, which led them across the street from where the crime happened, Poloni said. The officers did not immediatley find anyone but after interviewing neighbors and working the investigation more, the department was able to make arrests in the crime, Poloni said.
