Electrical Fire Damages Burrito Mundo

An electrical surge is believed to have caused the fire Friday night at Burrito Mundo.

Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety officials believe the cause of the fire Friday night at Burrito Mundo was caused by an electrical power surge.

The blaze was contained to the roof, according to Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety Director Andrew Pazuchowski, who added that fire fighters from Grosse Pointe Shores and Farms assisted in extinguishing the fire.

He added that firewalls between the buildings contained the blaze to just one business on Mack Ave.

Restaurant personnel were on scene Monday to survey the damage from the fire, and efforts to extinguish the blaze, and were unable to provide an estimate of when it may reopen.

A note on the outside of the building stated the restaurant would be "temporarily closed" and thanked local public safety departments.
