The exam on charges including domestic assault will now be held Sept. 12 in the City of Grosse Pointe Municipal Court. The charges stem from a reported an assault on Aug. 7 involving his wife.
According to a statement from Maria Miller, the spokesperson for the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, the Grosse Pointe Shores Department of Public Safety received a 911 call to the home Schulte and his wife share on Hampton. Following an interview with the victim, and another family member at the scene, Schulte was arrested, according to the news release.
He was charged with resisting and obstructing, preventing a crime report and domestic violence.
Schulte has been on the council since April 2009, and has served as the mayor pro-tem since Nov. 2011.
According to a story by the Grosse Pointe Times, Schulte was removed as mayor pro-tem at the Aug. 20 Grosse Pointe Shores City Council meeting. He was not at the meeting, according to story.
