Fire Fighters Respond to Weekend Blaze at Beaumont Hospital

Crews from three of the Grosse Pointes responded to a fire Saturday at Beaumont Hospital.

Fire fighters from three communities responded Saturday to a fire in insulation covering a pipe in the power house at Beaumont Hospital.

Fire fighters from Grosse Pointe City, Grosse Pointe Farms and Grosse Pointe Park, after insulation covering an exhaust pipe from a generator caught fire and created smoke.

Fire personnel began using water, but switched to foam to extinguish the blaze which was contained to the power house. Two fire fighters from Grosse Pointe Farms, and one from the City of Grosse Pointe, suffered minor injuries, according to City of Grosse Pointe Lt. Eddie Tujaka.

Brian Bierley, a spokesman for Beaumont Hospital, said the blaze "never interrupted any patient care."
