Grosse Pointe City Jewelry Heist Case Moves Forward in Third Circuit
Three people accused of stealing and receiving more than $1 million dollars in jewelry from a Grosse Pointe City residence were arraigned in Wayne County court Thursday.
Two brothers and one of the brothers' girlfriend were arraigned in Wayne County Third Circuit Court Thursday on charges that arose from a Labor Day weekend home invasion in Grosse Pointe City that netted more than $1 million dollars in stolen jewelry.
Thursday's arraignment on the information was held before Third Circuit Judge Wade McCree. Both Sedgeman brothers are currently in custody and Robinson is currently released on a $50,000 personal bond.
Matthew Sedgeman, 19, of Detroit was charged with second-degree home invasion and larceny of over $20,000. If convicted, he could face an enhanced charge for being a habitual offender and could face life in prison.

Joshua Sedgeman, 20, and Alaina Robinson, 25, both of Detroit were charged with receiving and concealing stolen property. If convicted, each are facing up to 10 years in prison and up to $15,000 in fines or three times the value of the stolen property, whichever is greater.
The date for the defendants' preliminary exam is to be scheduled following a calendar conference on Oct. 15.
