Grosse Pointe Park Man Arraigned on Drug Charges as Part of Homicide Investigation

A 42-year-old Grosse Pointe Park man was arraigned Wednesday in Municipal Court on drug charges. Investigators said the charges were part of an ongoing homicide investigation.

A 42-year-old Grosse Pointe Park man who lived next door to the home where a 35-year-old woman was found dead inside a duplex on Wayburn Street was arraigned Wednesday on drug charges which are part of an ongoing homicide investigation.

Myron Tyronne Williams was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, and delivery of marijuana, before Judge Carl F. Jarboe in Grosse Pointe Park Municipal Court.

The charges brought against Williams - who prosecutors said has had a number of contacts with police, including a drug offense, obstruction of police officer and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling - are part of a larger investigation.

"This case is part of a larger ongoing homicide investigation," said Molly Kettler, Wayne County assistant prosecutor, while arguing for a high bond for Williams. "We expect there may well be additional charges, and we don’t want him to A: either harm anyone, or B: leave the jurisdiction."

Sabrina Gianino was found dead May 16 in a Grosse Pointe Park and her death was ruled a homicide by strangulation the next day following an autopsy.

Jarboe set bond at $250,000 for Williams for the drug charges, which each are four-year felonies. He was also granted a request for a court-appointed attorney.

Williams, who is a truck driver, was argumentative during the proceedings.

"I ain't never deliver no marijuana to nobody," he told the judge.

While his previous charges were being read by the the prosecutor, he stated "that is a lie."

Williams, who is on probation on charges from Dearborn, also told the judge that he hasn't had a bath in five days and alleged that jail officials have "tampered" with his food.

Jarboe said those issues, and others, will be addressed during Williams' preliminary exam on May 29.

"According to the people ... he is a truck driver with a lot of contacts outside of the community I have not heard anything that he has any strong ties to this community," the judge said while setting the bond. "So I see a flight risk in this matter is high."

Williams responded, "I was never planning on bonding out."

Following the proceedings, prosecutors declined to discuss the connection between the drug charges and the homicide investigation.

"We have no comments, we cannot divulge any information on the case other than what you heard today in the court of law," Grosse Pointe Park Police Chief David Hiller said after the arraignment. "Our officers are continuing daily to investigate and we hope to have further information at a later point and time."
