Grosse Pointe Park Officers to Undergo Sensitivity Training

Grosse Pointe Park police will undergo sensitivity training, according to reports.

Members of the Grosse Pointe Park Police Department will be undergoing sensitivity training after officers took videos of a reportedly mentally challenged Detroit man and shared them, according to report by MLive.com.

City spokesman Greg Bowens did not outline the exact training, the website reported, but stated it would include education with mentally handicapped individuals and will administered to the department by a third party.

The Detroit Free Press reported that a Grosse Pointe Park police officer who admitted taking a video of Michael Scipio and being commanded to sing and make odd noises.

Bowens told the newspaper that the officers was taken off patrol duty while the incident is being investigated.

The videos, and allegations of harassment, were first published by a blog run by former Free Press reporter Steve Neavling.
