Grosse Pointe Woods House Fire Ruled Accidental

An electrical issue was discovered during the investigation of the Roslyn Road home, according to Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety.

The cause of a fire that heavily damaged a Roslyn Road home May 30 has been determined to be electrical, Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety Sgt. Raymond Yonkowski said.
The house at 1961 Roslyn is boarded up with plywood as insurance investigators and other officials work to determine the next step for the resident.
Yonkowski said the investigation determined the fire was accidental and due to an electric issue. Fortunately, the resident's handyman was on the porch when the fire ignited and he had a neighbor call 911, Yonkowski said.
The fire started in the living room and caused heavy damage there. The entire house sustained heavy smoke and water damage as well, Yonkowski said.
No one was injured in the blaze, which took about an hour to extinguish.
