Here We Go Again: Storm Rolls Through the Pointes, Power Goes Out

About 1,700 customers in the 48080 ZIP code and 100 in 48236 lost power, and others saw trees down in the Pointes after an afternoon thunderstorm rolled through Monday.

Update: As of 5:40 p.m. Monday, DTE estimated most customers would have power restored Monday evening. However, some in the Park, about 148 customers, may not see power restored until late Wednesday, according to DTE.

About 1,800 Grosse Pointers saw the lights go out, many for the second time this month, Monday afternoon as storms rolled through the area.

Strong winds and a thunderstorm knocked down trees and limbs throughout the area, and closed area pools.

The Pointes have seen their share of power outages this summer. The most recent stemmed from and left thousands out of power for days.

Readers and DTE reported outages in the Park between Jefferson and Mack around the streets between Buckinghman and Alter, as well as an area around Whittier and Grayton.
