Mentally Challenged Man Recorded by Police Reportedly Wanted for Break-in

Police are reportedly seeking an arrest warrant for a Detroit man, who was recorded by Grosse Pointe Park officers, for allegedly breaking into a home.

The mentally challenged Detroit man who recorded by Grosse Pointe Park police officer is reportedly wanted for a home invasion.

Michael Scipio is alleged to have broken into a home in Indian Village, according to WJBK. The station reported the homeowner told police she beat Scipio with a hammer before fled. Officers located him with a broken arm. 

In November, the Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Department announced after an investigation that five officers will be disciplined for taking a video, and sharing a video, of Scipio.

Grosse Pointe Park Chief of Police David Hiller stated that the officers, who are not being named, will face up to 60-day suspensions for taking and sharing the videos. Additionally, all members of the 36-member department will undergo additional training.

The investigation identified the officer who took the video in March 2012, and those who shared the videos.
