New Date Set in Gentz Competency Hearing

The man charged with first degree murder in the strangulation death of Jane Bashara is scheduled to appear in court again June 11 after the competency hearing was rescheduled so reports may be completed.

Joe Gentz, who is , had been scheduled to appear earlier this month but the hearing was cancelled as officials continued completing reports.

Gentz is being evaluated for his competency to stand trial and officials from the Forensic Center needed more time to complete the appropriate reports. The evaluation hearing has been rescheduled for June 11 in 36th District Court.

Bashara's death is still under active investigation by the Department of Public Safety. The conspiracy charge suggests that another person was involved in her death but Gentz is the only person who has been arrested and charged in the case thus far.

Meanwhile, Most recently, , explaining she has repeatedly told him she does not want the contact but he continues trying to contact her. The order was issued by a judge in third circuit court and it requires Bob Bashara to not have any contact in any form with the woman.
