Police Blotter: 2 Stolen Vehicles, 2 Thefts

The following information is gathered from the Public Safety Departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

police are investigating the theft of a 2000 Jeep Cherokee from the 1300 block of Cadieux. The Jeep's owner reported to police hearing the SUV start and then looking outside to see it being backed down the driveway. The black Jeep has a Michigan license plate: UZV92. Police responded to the call March 31 shortly after 10 a.m. and tried to find the Jeep but never found it, according to a report.

In another vehicle theft, Grosse Pointe Park police discovered a juvenile took an elderly resident's car April 1. The juvenile was at the home in the 900 block of Berkshire to visit the resident. When the resident was not paying attention, the girl took the keys and drove from the home, which happened between 1:30 to 1:50 p.m., according to a report.

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating thefts from two vehicles that happened overnight from March 29 to 30. In the first case, two cell phone chargers were stolen from a Chrysler Town and Country that was parked in a driveway in the 1000 block of Whittier Road. The van was unlocked. 

In the second case, police arrested a 22-year-old City of Grosse Pointe man turned in to City of Grosse Pointe police by his mother. The mother found an Apple laptop computer in the man's bedroom and took it to police along with her son. During their investigation of the computer, it was discovered it belonged to an individual in the 1100 block of Yorkshire. He had stolen it from a car parked at the home, according to a report.
