Police Blotter: 4 Thefts Under Investgation

The following information is gathered from the public safety departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

police are investigating four larceny reports:

  • In the first case, four tires were stolen from the basement of a home in 1200 block of Wayburn belonging to a 1996 Honda Passport between April 5 to 10. Police have a suspect, who is also believed to have stolen the Honda while it was in Boyne City where local police there are investing, according to a report.
  • A Schwinn bicycle was stolen from an unlocked shed in the 1300 block of Wayburn between April 11 to 12, according to a report.
  • A homeowner in the 1400 block of Devonshire reported that jewlery and cash are missing from the home. The theft happened between March 20 to April 14 and the homeowner gave police an idea of who she suspects, according to a report.
  • In another case, a green mountain bike was stolen from the front porch of a home in the 1100 block of Beaconsfield between April 14 to 15, according to a report.

Appliance Fire Extinguished

Grosse Pointe Park public safety officers doused a fire in the 15200 block of Jefferson that was in the basement of a commercial building. The fire was found to have started in a dyer, which was removed from the basement after the fire was extinguished. The building sustained minor smoke and water damage, according to a report.
