Police Blotter: Man Arrested for Alleged Assault After Argument with Daughter

Officers from the Pointes are also investigating fraudulent withdrawals from a bank account, an attempt to sell stolen jewelry and alleged threats to a business owner.

A 45-year-old Farms man was arrested on a battery charge Feb. 18 after his daughter reported that he dragged her out of bed after an argument, dragged her outside in a headlock and then chased her to a nearby friend's house where she sought refuge. Officers arrested him a short time later at his house, where he repeatedly told police he had an unpleasant experience with his daughter but wouldn't elaborate, according to Farms police reports.

Fraudulent Bank Withdrawals

A 55-year-old Farms woman reported to police that 14 fraudulent withdrawals had been made on her bank account between Jan. 3 through Feb. 22 totaling more than $7,000. The woman told officers the bank had already opened an investigation, according to police reports.

Drunken Driver Arrested

Farms police arrested a 42-year-old Detroit man Feb. 24 after stopping him because he was driving in the wrong direction on Mack Avenue near Moross Road. The man struggled to retrieve his wallet when officers first approached. Police said he smelled of alcohol. He was unsteady on his feet and admitted to drinking but told officers he did nothing wrong, according to reports. The man had a blood alcohol content of 0.29 percent and was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving on the wrong side of a divided highway and failure to supply proof of insurance.

Attempt to Sell Stolen Jewelry Leads to Arrest

City officers arrested an 18-year-old Park man Feb. 22 after he admitted to having stolen jewelry in his possession. The man entered a store on Mack Avenue to try to sell the jewelry but did not have proper identification on him and the store's owner called police. The man changed his story about how he obtained the jewelry twice and then finally admitted it was stolen. The jewelry included a tri-colored gold bracelet, a sterling silver bracelet and a gold ring, according to police reports. 

Traffic Offenses Result in Arrests

City officers who stopped a 37-year-old Detroit man Feb. 20 for running a red light on Mack Avenue at Cadieux Road ended up arresting him after discovering several warrants for unpaid child support. The man owes $16,974 in child support. 

In an unrelated case, City officers arrested a 50-year-old Detroit man Feb. 18 for numerous warrants for unpaid child support. The officer initially stopped the man for having an expired license plate registration and discovered the warrants. The man owes $181,831 in child support in six cases, according to police reports. 

Business Owner Reports Threats

A 53-year-old Mack Avenue business owner reported to Woods police that the owner of his former snow removal service called and threatened to harm him. The former snow remover said the business owner's new service had plowed snow into the neighboring lot of a business he is plowing. The man repeatedly threatened to harm the business owner, noting that he knows where the man lives, the owner told police. The business owner told police he promised to remove the snow, according to reports. The owner reported the incident because he feared for his family after the repeated threats, according to the report. 

Driver Flees Scene of Crash

An 18-year-old Woods woman reported to police that another motorist struck her car in the parking lot of a Mack Avenue gas station Feb. 22 and then drove away. She was able to give police the license plate number of the other vehicle, according to a police report.
