Police Blotter: Battery, Theft Under Investigation

police are investigating the alleged battery of a 13-year-old by his father after Parcells Middle School officials called June 2 to report a battery on school grounds. School officials told officers the man arrived at the school in a rage, threatened his son repeatedly, choked him and pulled him around by his neck in addition to pinning him against two walls. A school official who tried to intervene was shoved away by the man, according to a report.

Theft from Foreclosed Home Investigated

Grosse Pointe Woods police are investigating the alleged theft of about $8,000 worth of home goods and appliances after the maintenance crew of a realty company discovered items missing from a foreclosed home on Hollywood Avenue this week. The theft occurred between Sept. 10, 2010 and May 31 and was reported to police this week. Among the items stolen are a furnace, hot water tank, toilet, bathroom vanity and an outside HVAC unit. The house did not have any signs of forced entry, according to a report.

Drivers Arrested

police arrested a 19-year-old Warren man on June 1 at about 12:45 a.m. near Lake Shore and Vernier roads after he was stopped for speeding and having a defective headlight. According to reports, an officer spotted a marijuana pipe in the backseat during the traffic stop and the man said it belonged to his stepfather, who has a medical marijuana card. Police said the officer contacted the man's stepfather, but he could not describe the pipe or the manner in which marijuana was stored that was also found in the car. The driver was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and was given citations for having no driver's license, speeding and a defective headlight, according to a report.

police arrested a 21-year-old Clinton Township man on May 31 near Jefferson and Notre Dame streets for drunken driving. Police said the man turned without signaling and then was swerving on the roadway. He began giggling during field sobriety testing and had a 0.11 percent blood alcohol content, according to a report.
