Police Blotter: Border Patrol, Disorderly Conduct & Drunken Driving

Traffic crimes and erratic driving lead to arrests.

Border Patrol officers took custody of a man stopped for a traffic offense near Vernier and Helen roads in the Woods Feb. 14 after officers could not determine his citizenship. Police said the man handed the officer a fraudulent Michigan state identification card and then verbally stated  a different birthday than what was on the card. Officers tried to identify him through a fingerprint scan but were unable. Police said he told them he was born in Mexico but lived in the U.S. for nine years and gave them an address in Detroit as his home. Officers said he mainly spoke Spanish and was not very fluent in English. After arresting him, officers called Border Patrol, who sent an officer to take custody of the man, according to police reports.

Felony drug arrest

A 27-year-old man made his first appearance before a Grosse Pointe Farms judge Thursday on a felony drug charge stemming from last year. Zachary Lee Mosley, most recently of Bellevue, Ohio, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, which carries up to seven years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines. Police said Mosley was arrested last year at BP gas station in the Farms in possession of prescription pills. The pills were sent to the Michigan State Crime Lab for analysis and a warrant was issued for his arrest. In the meantime, Mosley had moved from the Grosse Pointe area but recently returned. He was arrested for allegedly giving officers false information at Eastland Mall, at which time officers in Harper Woods found his warrant out of the Farms, Det. Lt. Rich Rosati said. Mosley has his preliminary exam before a judge Feb. 23 at 8 a.m.
