Police Blotter: Cash, Prescription Drugs Stolen

The following information is gathered from the Public Safety Departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

police are investigating the break-in of a Kercheval Avenue business in which cash and prescription drugs were stolen. The burglars, described as two men who wore bandanas and gloves, set off the business' alarm. The alarm alerted police, who arrived on the scene within two minutes. 

The men broke in through the front door and got away with an unknown amount of cash from a drawer and an unknown amount of prescription drugs, according to a report. 

The burglary happened a few minutes after 7 a.m. Dec. 24 in the 15100 block of Kercheval Avenue. Police did not release the name of the business.

Teens Arrested in Friend's House

Grosse Pointe Park police arrested two teenagers, ages 17 and 19, Dec. 24 in a home in the 1100 block of Nottingham after a neighbor called 911 on them. The teenagers do not live at the home but responding officers discovered they had been given access to the home by the howeowner's daughter, who gave them a key to the house before leaving to go out of town. The teens were each charged with possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol. The 19-year-old is from the Park while the 17-year-old is from Kalamazoo, according to a report.

Smash and Grab Theft

The owner of a 2009 Jeep reported to Grosse Pointe Park police that a window had been smashed out overnight Dec. 22 to 23 and an iPod had been stolen. The SUV had been parked overnight int he 1400 block of Three Mile Road Dec. 22 starting at 6 p.m. and the owner discovered the damage about 7 a.m. Dec. 23. The iPod had been stolen from the center console of the SUV, according to a report.
