Police Blotter: Foil Used to Steal Gas, Soda Pop

The following information is from the police departments in the Grosse Pointes and arrests do not indicate a conviction.

detectives are investigating the theft of gas and a pop from a Mack Avenue gas station. A gas station employee called police June 4 after a man pretended to prepay for gasoline with a gift card. The man began pumping gas and then the computers at the station alerted the clerk that the network was down. The clerk went outside to check the satellite dish used for service to find it was covered in foil. Upon taking the foil off, the network came back up but the man drove from the gas station in the 17500 block of Mack Ave. He got 3.3 gallons of gas and a pop. The employee told police the man's crimes were likely caught on video surveillance tapes, according to the report.

The man told officers that his neighbors have a lacrosse net in their backyard and a young man practices out there but repeatedly misses the net, hitting his house. He told officers it's been going on for about a year. He has talked with the parents but nothing changes and he simply wants the net moved so his house is not behind it when the young man practices, according to a report.
