Police Blotter: Food Stolen, Man Arrested

Grosse Pointe Woods police arrested a 68-year-old Detroit man for retail fraud after he stole groceries from Kroger on Mack Avenue Feb. 12. The man had been arrested on the same charge in October. When officers arrived at the store, they found the man in the parking lot. He had items stuffed in his winter coat including Kit Kat bars, Klondike bars, potato chips, fried chicken, paczki doughnuts, bread and sausage. He also had cat treats. He told officers he had no money and needed to eat, according to the report. 

Grosse Pointe Woods police are investigating another theft from Kroger in which a man stole two cases of Red Bull Feb. 10. The theft is on videotape and was reported by an employee, according to a report. 

$340 Shoes Reported Stolen from Porch

Grosse Pointe Woods police are investigating the theft of a pair of shoes stolen from the front porch of a home in the 1900 block of Hunt Club Drive. The 81-year-old homeowner said she arrived home about 10:30 a.m. Feb. 10, spotting a package on her front door from an order she placed with a store. She went inside her house through a side door and then went to her porch to retrieve the package but it was gone. She told police the package contained a pair of shoes valued at $340, according to a report. 

Teenager Arrested for Battering Mother

Grosse Pointe Woods police arrested a 16-year-old resident for assault after she used a cell phone to strike her mother on the head repeatedly Feb. 8. The teen came home that night, her mother told her she was grounded and then when she asked if she could leave to go to her father's her mother told her she was not allowed. The daughter grabbed the mother's cell phone out of her hand and began hitting her on the head. The responding officer noted redness on the mother's head and a bump where she was hit, according to a report.
