Police Blotter: Fraud, Stolen Property and Theft

The following information is gathered from the Public Safety Departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

A 56-year-old Illinois woman reported to that her sister's debit card was fraudulently used in the city Oct. 29. The sister reported the crime to police on behalf of her sister because she was hospitalized at the time and reported that she believed it was a man they met at a nearby party store who used it. The fraudulent use was an ATM withdraw of $274, according to a report.

Tow Truck Driver Calls Woods Police

A tow-truck driver reported to Grosse Pointe Woods police that a resident he towed from downtown Detroit back to the city refused to pay for the tow. The resident agreed to the $95 fee before the tow truck driver hooked up his vehicle. The driver called police to the resident's home Oct. 29. The resident told police he had been robbed while in Detroit, and the driver said the man became irate when asked to pay the driver, according to a report.

Landlord Reportedly Makes Threats

A Grosse Pointe Farms business owner reported to police being threatened by a previous landlord from Royal Oak on Oct. 29 in connection with a dispute about rent. The landlord told the business owner if he did not come up with $500 by next week, he would send men from Las Vegas to the Farms business to tear it up, according to a report.

Change Stolen From Car
are investigating the theft of two bags of coins from a vehicle parked in the 600 block of Cadieux Road Oct. 23. The 70-year-old owner of the vehicle reported the theft after discovering her car had been ransacked overnight from Oct. 22 to 23, according to a report.

Man Arrested On Stolen Bicycle

City of Grosse Pointe police arrested a 21-year-old Detroit man Oct. 30 after discovering he was riding a stolen bicycle. The man was near Kercheval and Grayton when he was stopped by a Grosse Pointe Park officer. The Park officer called the City after discovering the bike was stolen from the City. The man was charged with possession of stolen property, according to a report.
