Police Blotter: Man Arrested for Kicking Open Door

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating a variety of reports.

Grosse Pointe Park officers arrested a 27-year-old Park resident May 1 after he allegedly kicked in the door of his Nottingham Road home. The man is the estranged husband of the resident, who sustained minor injuries in the assault. A 4-year-old child was also present during the man's forced entrance into the home, police said. Police believe the man was under the influence of crack cocaine and the case is being reviewed by Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, according to police.

Youths Resist Arrest

Grosse Pointe Park police arrested three Detroit teenagers April 26 after they were allegedly found fighting near Lakepointe Street and Kercheval Avenue causing problems with traffic. Police said the teens ran from officers, refusing to stop or to follow verbal commands by the officers, including removing their hands from their pockets. Two of the teens gave police false identification. The teens—ages 13, 14, and 16—were each charged with resisting law enforcement and after being processed with juvenile services, were returned to their parents.

Don't Try This in Public ...

A 31-year-old Grosse Pointe Park man who urinated on a building after exiting a bar near Mack Avenue and Somerset Street April 30 was ticketed by an officer who witnessed all of it. Police said the man was talking on his cell phone when he left the bar and began urinating on the building. Urinating in public is a violation of the Park's ordinances, according to a report.

Traffic Stop Uncovers Warrant

Grosse Pointe Park officers arrested a 35-year-old Detroit man May 1 near Balfour and Mack Avenue after he was stopped for speeding. The man had a warrant out for his arrest on a felonious assault with a motor vehicle charge, according to police. 

Brick Smashes Window

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating damage to a home in the 1000 block of Beaconsfield after a small brick was thrown through a window. The 4-by-2-foot window was broken and there are no suspects or motive, according to a report.

Gutter Falls on Power Line

Police called DTE officials to the corner of St. Paul and Wayburn streets about 4:3o p.m. on April 27  after the gutter of a home fell onto DTE lines. The area has since been made safe and power restored, according to police.

Elm Crashes onto Street

A strong storm that swept through the area April 28 caused a large elm tree to fall across the street near Berkshire and Essex. The tree belongs to the City of Grosse Pointe Park and did not hit anything during its fall.
