Police Blotter: Man Arrested in Vehicle Arson

The following information is gathered from the Public Safety Department of Grosse Pointe Park. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

police arrested a 28-year-old Detroit man April 8 after he set fire to a car in the 1100 block of Lakepointe for retaliation. The man was owed money by the owner of the 1995 Ford Crown Victoria and started it on fire about 3 a.m. The Detroit man who set it was arrested, according to a report.

Capt. David Loch said the man is awaiting his arraignment. Investigators are hopeful the arraignment will happen today, he said. No one was injured during the blaze, which was put out by responding officers, he said.

Grosse Pointe Park police arrested a 21-year-old Detroit man April 3 following a vehicle pursuit. An officer tried to stop the man for speeding near Mack Avenue and Cadieux Road but he continued driving. Eventually he crashed his car in Detroit. During his arrest, officers found a load .380 caliber handgun in his car. He was charged with fleeing and eluding police officers and carrying a concealed weapon, according to a report.

Grosse Pointe Park police arrested a 49-year-old man April 2 after finding him in the street in the 15000 block of Mack Avenue about 8 p.m. He was intoxicated and when officers approached, he began making threats to them. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
